An $18 million center will teach about its majesty, history – with your help.
Devil’s Lake State Park is a four-season treasure that yearly draws eager visitors from across the nation, keen to soak in the lake’s deep-blue reflections and its quartzite bluffs that pierce the sky.
There are powerful stories behind the park’s abundant natural gifts; about the awesome forces of nature that made this place and the native peoples who have held it sacred through the ages.
People come to this place – that some call America’s State Park – to enjoy its iconic beauty, but its history and ecosystem offer equal inspiration.
To help visitors fully appreciate the park’s abundant gifts, the Friends of Devil’s Lake State Park has teamed with the Devil’s Lake Concessions Corporation and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the Campaign for America’s State Park to raise $18 million for a new Interpretive Center.
We’ve decided to commit our time and energy to this project because sharing an understanding of those gifts and passing along a legacy of knowledge and stewardship to future generations is vital.
The center will foster a love of learning and nature by people of all ages and abilities, serving as a hub of knowledge for the 2.5 million annual park visitors and the thousands of schoolchildren, university students and nature and sports enthusiasts who flock to Devil’s Lake.
It will house interactive multimedia exhibits, classrooms, flexible event space, outdoor learning spaces, a cafe and gift shop – all in a sustainable design that complements the park’s stunning landscape.
Your contribution will build a stronger Devil’s Lake State Park committed to education, history, the environment and to making everyone’s park visit richer and more meaningful.
